A Poem For My Son – by Jodie Marks

A Poem For My Son – by Jodie Marks

“The world stops still just for a moment and then it moves, spinning around and around,

I can’t understand why it didn’t stop for longer.

I feel lost in amongst the crowds of people moving on with their lives, all of them telling me I’ll get stronger.

Tick Tock the clock goes, another minute, hour, day, year has gone by and yet I’m still there, holding you, as you take your last breath.

Nothing, no-one can make me forget what happened, I see your face clearly, I remember every moment of your death.

Time has moved on and yet I feel myself pulled back to that moment, reliving each moment in slow motion.

I’ll spend my life remembering you, your little round face, your jet-black hair, and your eyes as blue as the ocean.

I will search for you in the dark, I will think of you always, but particularly at night.

I will cry, I will laugh, I will try to be the best Mum for your siblings, I will try with all my might.

You taught me so much, lessons I’ll never forget.

I’ll never be sad that we met.”
