INTRODUCING SUE BRAYNE …
… and her books help parents, teachers, and carers speak to younger children about death and dying with the aid of Granny Mo.
For the past thirty years, Sue Brayne has been helping people talk more honestly and openly about end-of-life and death and dying. She has an MA in the Rhetoric and Rituals of Death and a second MA in Creative Writing. She is the author of several books and articles about death and dying and for many years worked as a psychotherapist, specialising in trauma, end-of-life issues, bereavement, and grief. She now is a full-time astrologer with a love of cosmology and mythology and is the host of Celebrating Astrology YouTube channel and Embracing Your Mortality podcast.
Sue was inspired to write Granny Mo, Is Teddy Going to Die? after four year old grandson, Jack, turned to her out of the blue while eating lunch and asked, ‘Are you going to die one day?’The subsequent conversation she had with Jack made her realise how important it was to create a resource to help grown-ups and children to talk together about death and dying.
It is a book that beautifully and eloquently deals with answering one of the biggest questions children ask about death and dying.
Questions that can leave many mummies and daddies, grannies, grandpas, and everyone else who cares for young children unsure of what to say or the right way to say it. This is where Granny Mo comes to the rescue.
Granny Mo also gives adults the confidence and skills to support a child who needs time to absorb the answers to the big questions and make sense of their feelings.
